Alexis McCarley

Mrs. Alexis McCarley
Ahoy, Mateys! Welcome to First Grade!
My name is Alexis McCarley (formerly Airington), and I’m thrilled to be your captain on this year’s learning adventure! This will be my ninth year teaching, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things we’ll discover together.
I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Early Childhood Education—Go Gamecocks! I grew up in Richburg, SC, and spent much of my childhood in Rock Hill. After college, I made the move to York, and I’m so happy to call it home!
A little personal update—this summer I got married! As I transition, you may see both Ms. Airington and Mrs. McCarley used on school documents and materials.
When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending time with my husband and my two Siberian Huskies, Freya and Thor. I also enjoy reading, going to Disney, and making memories with my family.
One of the best parts of being a teacher is watching my students grow and learn throughout the year. First Grade is such an exciting time filled with curiosity, discovery, and big milestones—and I’m honored to be part of it with you.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic year full of learning, laughter, and lots of adventures with my new crew of first graders!
